Brand

Aren’t Brands for BIG Business

What is a brand?

By definition, a brand is ‘a person’s perception of a product, service, experience, or organisation’1. Here at All In One Digital, we believe branding stretches beyond perception, in today’s world of services and non-tangible products, brand, personifies everything that you do.

There are of course many brands that are synonymous with a specific product, Sharpie is a great example of this, they produce permanent markers, but say the word Sharpie to someone and they instantly know what you mean.

However there are companies now that don’t sell just a specific product but are globally recognised, they may not even sell a physical product, often they provide a service to the customer. Good examples of these types of companies are Amazon and Google, amongst some of the largest companies in the world, you know them and what they stand for.

We therefore believe that brands are made up of a number of different components. These include but aren’t limited to:

  • Logo
  • Font Family
  • Colour Palette
  • Brand Imagery
  • Logo Placement
  • Brand Values
  • Mission Statement
  • Brand Language/Tone

Why do I need a brand?

So you may think I’ve got my company name and I’m not looking to challenge Amazon or Google any time soon with fancy logos and branding. But a high-quality, modern logo and a set of guidelines for how to portray your brand can add that level of professionalism that sets you apart from the competition.

Aside from a logo being a key component of your online presence through a website and social media, it can also become a marketing tool. Combined with a colour palette and font family it can be used to produce physical promotional materials (flyers, business cards, car/van signage) and even custom company clothing.

If you are looking to expand your company and recruit staff it is always important for them to truly understand the company they are working for and how that brand should be represented. This is where outlining a brand’s values, it’s language and tone and mission statement are vital, as it gives employees a reference point and can even remind yourself of what’s important to your business.
